This test is for NHS frontline workers only and is provided at below our true cost. You will be required to upload a photo of your NHS ID  at checkout. If you are not a NHS worker please go here to buy our regular test

For the most accurate test possible, get your blood taken by a certified phlebotomist to find out if you have COVID-19 antibodies, a sign that your body has previously been infected with the coronavirus.

Taken 14 days or more after you first suffer symptoms, this IgG antibodies test has been shown to be 100% accurate in its ability to detect the COVID-19 antibodies which your body produces in response to the coronavirus.

We are one of the first laboratories in Europe to be able to offer this test, which is approved by Public Health England, CE marked, FDA EUA approved and is also being used by the NHS to test frontline workers.

How it works

The kit is extremely easy to use and requires just a blood sample to be taken by anyone who can take your blood. If you live within the M25 area we can arrange one to visit your home or office. The phlebotomist will contact you and will visit to take your blood within 3 days, and is available evenings and weekends. Choose the option at the checkout and the phlebotomist will be in contact to arrange your appointment directly.

Use the supplied packaging and paid return postage to send your sample back to us and our analyser detects whether IgG antibodies are present. Research so far indicates this test to be 100% sensitive in detecting IgG antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection if taken 14 days or more after a covid-19 illness.

Your results will be ready within 1-2 days after arriving at our laboratory.

What will the test results tell me?

This test is to find out if you have been infected with the coronavirus in the past, and to be effective, must be taken a minimum of 14 days after you develop symptoms.

We have an alternative test available for if you are currently suffering symptoms.

The results of this test will tell you whether or not you have the antibodies in your blood which your body may produce to fight COVID-19. If they are present then you have been infected with the virus in the past.

There is still a lot to learn about this virus, and it should be noted that if antibodies are not present in your blood it does not necessarily mean you have not had COVID-19.

Although it is likely that having the antibodies provides at least temporary immunity to the coronavirus, it is not yet known how long that immunity may last. So, whatever the result, it is important that you continue to follow the government’s advice on social distancing and other measures designed to stop the spread of the virus.

What’s in the test kit?

You will receive the following:

  • Blood collection tube
  • "Butterfly" needle for collecting blood from vein
  • Test request form
  • Introduction letter
  • alcohol swab, cotton swab, sticking plaster
  • 95kPa plastic bag or plastic wallet for blood sample tube
  • Prepaid tracked return envelope

How do I get my results?

You can view your results via a secure link which is emailed to you as soon as they are available. The results will give you a clear yes or no answer as to whether the COVID-19 antibodies were detected.

How reliable is this test?

Research from the US government’s Food and Drug Administration shows this test to be 100% sensitive in its ability to detect the COVID-19 antibodies if taken 14 days or more after an illness.

Because of its simplicity and accuracy this test is being used around the world, including by the NHS, and its high performance was recently featured in Forbes.

The test is PHE approved, CE Marked for Europe and has FDA EUA approval.

We are one of the first laboratories in Europe to achieve the validation required to be able to offer this antibody test, and our reagents and analyser are manufactured and validated by one of the largest medical diagnostics providers in the world.

Our collection kits all contain CE marked products and meet international UN and local Royal Mail requirements in the safe transportation of biological samples.

Capillary (finger-prick) Blood Samples - why we have paused supplying this convenient collection method to you.

The MHRA recently asked us to share our data confirming that the results from tests on blood taken from a vein were the same as those done on self-testing finger-prick samples. They have intimated that they have concerns that samples from a finger prick (capillary samples) "may" be inaccurate. We have sent them the extensive validation data which clearly proves that the results from a capillary sample are statistically identical to those obtained from a venous sample. We have asked them for any evidence at all that supports their notion that there may be any inaccuracy in the results obtained from capillary testing and they have not been able to produce any as yet. Capillary (self-testing) blood samples have been collected and tested successfully for many years with all the risks and benefits of this collection method very comprehensively researched, considered and approved, however with the current climate of distrust and concerns we support the MHRA in their ambition to dispel any doubt and we are working with them to help them to understand the established scientific and clinical evidence supporting the validity of capillary sampling. They have asked that while they take the time they believe necessary to review their stance, that samples processed for SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody testing are performed on samples that are taken from a vein (venous samples) only. You will be asked to confirm that your sample is taken in this way during checkout.
