If you are travelling to China, take our PCR Swab & IgM Antibody Combination test. This includes both the IgM antibody blood test and a PCR swab test you will need to take within 48 hours of travelling to China.
The tests assess both if you are currently and have previously been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. They consist of a nasal and mouth swab, as well as a venous blood sample collection.
You can complete your PCR Swab & IgM Antibody Combination Test:
- In-store—Get tested at your nearest available London Medical Laboratory clinic at a date and time that suits you for an additional fee.

Where are the in-store testing locations?
Many of our London Medical Laboratory clinics are open 7-days a week and are situated across London and Guildford. A full list of our locations can be found here.
Do I need to do any preparation before I take my test?
Please make sure you don’t eat, drink, chew gum or brush your teeth at least 20 minutes before you take the mouth and nasal swab test. Doing this can contaminate your sample, which may result in it needing a retest and therefore, delaying your result.
Also, if you are requesting a test for a fit to fly certificate and would like your passport number on the result form, please bring in your documentation to your appointment, or write your passport number on the test request form.
How and when will I receive my results?
As soon as your samples are tested, we will email you a certificate with your results.
We understand 48 hours is a short timeframe to complete your test and deliver your results. So we will test your sample the day after it has arrived at our lab, with your results delivered the day of testing—usually by that evening.
When did China begin this entry requirement, and will it change?
The Chinese government introduced these requirements from November 7th and are currently on-going. However these are subject to change at any time, therefore it is recommended you check with the FCO for the most up-to-date entry requirements.
Why is this test only available in-store?
Given that you will need your results within 48 hours of your flight, handling the process in-store gives us greater control over the timing and handling of your sample. By testing in-store, our team of medical professionals can also ensure that high-quality samples are taken for processing—reducing the risk of a re-test needing to be done.
Why would a country require both a PCR test and an IgM test?
While there are no absolute guarantees with any testing process, you can be confident that it is very unlikely that you have been infected by coronavirus if both your PCR and your IgM results come back negative. This is why some countries are adopting this dual test process to ensure that people are not carrying the virus with them when they travel.
Does buying this test impact the general supply of test kits?
No, we guarantee that any purchase of testing through us does not impact in any way on the ability of NHS workers or anyone else to get tested for coronavirus.
Is there an NHS discount?
Yes, for any NHS staff we are offering the test at less than cost to us. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
